Senior Infrastructure Engineer (UK based)

Reports to: Infrastructure Manager

Job Description:

This role requires a mature, resourceful and dependable person ready to work on own initiative to better Idox Healths’s overall ICT stance. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer may work on site or remotely by phone, email or using remote control applications to achieve a particular task. This is due to the geographic reach of the company and its customers.

This work entails offering highly specialized technical infrastructure support services to Idox Health’s internal and cloud clients. In most cases this would require one to work against pre-defined support levels. Due to the nature of the role certain work may require being on call and doing shift work, including weekends. 

This role is based in the United Kingdom, but one may have to visit other sites overseas.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing support and mentoring the Infrastructure team to further their knowledge and experience to grow both individuals and the team
  • Ensuring the day-to-day running and management of the operational Problem Management process
  • Ensuring the underlying causes of IT incidents are fully investigated, identified and accurate improvement plans are implemented by both the internal team and 3rd party partners in a timely manner
  • Planning and delivering Service Management tool improvements in line with group standards and processes
  • Design, setup and support of business-critical ICT components such as:

           o   Office 365

           o   Virtual Desktop Environments

           o   Application publishing servers

           o   Local and Wide Area networks

           o   Communication tools such as VoIP

           o   Other infrastructure components such as Firewalls, Routers, Servers and so on

  • Dealing with internal and external clients on support related issues
  • Fault rectification in a timely manner
  • Installation of new equipment and upgrading of existing systems.
  • Recording of problems and their solutions for future reference in an appropriate knowlede base
  • Training internal clients on new systems or software applications.
  • Enforce all support related policies as authorized by the company  Infrastructure Director.
  • Ensure that all company equipment is operable at all times during the week between Mondays to Friday at 8.30am to 5pm.

Skills: 

  • Certified Microsoft Systems Administrator or Equivalent
  • Linux Professional Institute LPIC-2 Certification
  • Cisco CCNA Certification
  • Good knowledge of operating Systems such as Microsoft Windows, Centos, Redhat and Ubuntu Linux, Apple OSX
  • Knowledge of network principals such as TCP/IP, Routing, Firewalls and wireless technologies including bluetooth
  • Clear methodical thinker able to work under pressure
  • A good foundation in databases such as Microsoft SQL
  • A strong footing in both wireless and wired IT network design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work in a small team and/or on personal initiative
