Company announcement by 6PM Holdings plc

15th May 2013

In compliance with the Listing Rules, 6PM Holdings plc issued the following announcement on the Malta Stock Exchange. Copy of the announcement can be found here.

Quote:

As quoted in the Annual Report currently being distributed to the shareholders, the Group is now reaping the rewards of the investments done following the right issue in 2011. The Group continues to sustain the performance achieved in 2012 in the first months of 2013 and managed to achieve profits month after month as from September 2011.

The executive team and the Board of Directors are continuously challenging themselves to attain the desirable results for shareholders. This is predominantly done through the monthly comparative analysis of the results with the business plan prepared by each company for 2013. Although the Maltese market was affected negatively with the slowdown encountered during the election period, the latest months showed that performance will be recouped to remain in line with the business plan. The executive team will continue with its effort to curb costs as much as possible, to secure established targets and improve the bottom line of the Group.

Encouraged by last years’ successful launch of a clinical product (having sold to three National Health Service Trusts), the Group is in the process of developing another such like product to be marketed throughout the year - early market reactions already looking positive. Furthermore, the business-to-consumer suite launched last year continued to be developed and by the end of the year, other products within the same suite will be launched. It is also worth mentioning that the Group is also investing in another line of business-to-consumer products, which will immediately derive revenue from one of the Group’s subsidiaries. Apart from the above, during these initial months, 6PM managed to secure a substantial contract as previously announced. This is an IRM solution, consisting of the Group’s own iFiT solution and EDM solution, and the Group is currently in the first stages to start implementing the project.

6PM is also heavily involved in the necessary development in one of its associated companies, emCare360 Ltd, in which the Group holds 25% equity, has now managed to secure the first 10,000 customers in Malta for e-care and e-monitoring.

The Group has now finalized the purchase of the remaining 30% of the shares within its subsidiary, Agilis6 Ltd (formerly known as Softweb Ltd), this ensuring 100% holding.

The Group is cautiously optimistic for the forthcoming financial year and anticipates that the results obtained in the first months of 2013 will continue during the rest of the year, thus keeping the positive profitability situation which was experienced in the past months.

6PM hosts Technology Morning

9th May 2013

The 6PM Technology Morning hosted recently at the Westin Dragonara Resort proved to be a good eye opener as regards to steps businesses should take to guard and protect themselves from cyber-attacks.

This was more relevant given the recent attacks on Spamhaus, Google and the US Senate, just to mention a few. As David Vassallo from 6PM pointed out in his presentation, no one is really protected, not even the biggest technology companies. David Vassallo said that this year the majority of hacking was state sponsored, where hackers are going after the little companies and individuals to get the information needed. For this reason managed security services are on the rise. 6PM not only provides such services but it goes beyond by developing its own solutions to help the individual or company achieve its goals.

Nowadays it is difficult to determine if your computer has been infected by a virus. Restoring a back-up could take a day or two. Thanks to virtualization it is now easier to have your work backed-up and it is also easier for you to retrieve such back-ups if your system is down. Virtualization also provides on-demand apps to any user, anywhere.

6PM offers such services through its CITRIX portal. As Isaac Zarb said virtualization reduces validation cycles and provides a faster time to market.

Worryingly you cannot determine if you have been hacked or not and you can never rest assured that you are safe because you have an anti-virus and malware programme installed. Jose Muniz from Palo Alto Networks explained that 27 per cent of malware is not detected by anti-virus vendors adding that multi-vendor solutions do not work because of the cost to license and operate but rather because of the complexity of orchestration amongst multiple security vendors. What Palo Alto Networks offers is a state of the art prevention through a robust firewall. As Jose Muniz said, ‘the firewall, the whole firewall and nothing but the firewall’ is part of the fundamental infrastructure. It is in every branch office, every datacentre and sees all flows in ingress and egress, sits in-line and therefore it only makes sense to prevent Modern-Malware and APT’s with the firewall.

As the world becomes more virtual and we all depend on the different devices to remain connected, problems arise when one tries to synchronise everything. To help in such situations 6PM is now offering a solution called Cloudlink.

“Cloudlink is a conduit between the file server and the internet,” Brian Zarb Adami explained. “It leverages on what you have in place offering a world class connectivity solution.”

A Gartner report published in 2011 said that without proper planning enterprises deploying iPads will need 300% more Wi-Fi. Wherever we are, our devices are constantly scanning for wireless connectivity to the enterprise network. Jennifer Capewell from Xirrus said that by 2015 80% of newly installed wireless networks will be obsolete due to lack of planning. She added companies thus must optimise their Wi-Fi to deliver predictable user experience. Xirrus is the leader in high-performance wireless networks offering a future-proof and application-aware Wi-Fi infrastructure.

The 6PM Technology Morning event also discussed the importance of Business Intelligence. According to Gartner, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company, business intelligence has become an expected business competency for improving decision-making effectiveness. Elton Barry from 6PM said businesses today have oceans of data that needs to be measured. But for this to happen, especially in small family businesses, it requires a change in mentality. Business Intelligence helps businesses answer questions such as the costumers’ demographics and the business growth compared to marketing costs. While on paper things might look fine when digging deeper and incorporating all the factors things can show a different picture.

Participants at the 6PM Technology Morning were also briefed in detail about the advantages one gets when purchasing the new range of Epson Ink Tank System (ITS) printers. Boris Vetnic from Epson highlighted how the ITS printers which include 70ml ink bottles instead of the conventional ink cartridges on delivery, can save you hundreds of € in consumables. With the new Epson printers you really can print far more and pay even less.

Major Mental Health Trust Extends 6PM EDM solution

4th May 2013

6PM is pleased to announce a major extension to their EDM contract with a major Mental Health Trust.

The initial contract was awarded in November 2011 to pilot 350 users of the solution, utilising the EMC XCP Documentum platform for the management of Medical Record archives.  Since the implementation, the Trust have identified several other uses of the platform and have now purchased an additional 1,500 users to rollout across the Trust to new areas such as Occupational Health.

”Trust employees have embraced the use of the platform very quickly and are identifying new uses on a regular basis, particularly the effective use of the process management elements. Given their current rate of progress, I believe that they will have a very sophisticated configuration within twelve months, much of which they are making available to other Trusts” commented Steve Wightman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, 6PM Holdings plc.

To scan or not to scan?

25th April 2013

Article by Steve Wightman, Deputy CEO of 6PM, published on the IHRIM Journal

Having worked in the Content Management arena for some 15 years and in the Health Industry for five years, making me still a novice by most standards, it is an interesting question – what is the best route forward for an NHS Trust?

First consideration should be the Clinicians, the very people who are going to have to use a system. Often too little consideration is given to users, a common problem across many industries with regard to IT delivery, but it is particularly endemic in the Health Industry where we are also trying to deliver to users who are already under increasing pressure to spend more time with patients and less on administration. Without a content management system, their world is based around the paper record and they understand the shortcomings of this and deal with it as they have done for their entire career to date. When one introduces an electronic system, the major barrier to success is the transition period. If a full back-scan is the strategic way forward, where does the Clinician look for the patient record during a lengthy transition period? On-line? On paper? For many solutions the answer becomes both, adding significant workload for the Clinician and making it almost impossible to drive out early benefits.

The second consideration should be where are the real business benefits to be derived? All too often IT projects become technology led projects rather than business benefit led ones. Surely the real objective here is to get the right information in the right place at the right time in the most efficient way. That does not necessarily mean instantly scanning everything and there are several business options – such as scan on demand, scan after first encounter, etc. Another aspect of this is what to scan. If we accept the widely held statistic that 80% of medical records will never be looked at again, which ones to scan becomes the important question to answer, if you consider the cost of deep store against the cost of preparing and scanning a record, these particular records will achieve a payback in about 30 years, so why not leave them where they are?

So what is the answer? Many Trusts are getting to grips with the challenges now and one approach is to get the paper under control first and managed in the most efficient way. One Trust pioneering such an approach is Surrey and Sussex Hospital who has implemented a location-based filing solution utilising RFID technology to track paper much more efficiently. Such systems are based on those adopted by the Logistics and Distribution industries that have spent years refining the process of being able to put things on shelves and send them to other locations in the most efficient way. To that end, Surry and Sussex Hospital have already achieved reductions in record handling costs of around 40%, giving them a payback on the solution in under 6 months.

The second part of the solution is to give the Clinicians one single view of the world by integrating the Electronic Documentation and the Paper Documentation under one single view. This means they can instantly see information online but also understand what is still on paper without going in two different directions, and the solution is further enhanced by enabling the Clinician to initiate a scan request for the paper because it is now relevant to have it online for that particular patient. A further benefit of this is that the transformation project from paper to electronic is no longer required and the business can decide what to scan and when, based on the benefits rather than a prescriptive process, all without causing confusion amongst the user base.

Cheshire HR Service go live with new Recruitment Case Management Solution from 6PM

Date: 23rd April 2013

6PM is pleased to announce that Cheshire HR Service has now gone live with a new, state of the art, case management solution to manage all aspects of its recruitment process. The application is part of the CareSolutionsTM HR Vision application which is based on the award winning Business Process Management platform, XCP, supplied by EMC to the NHS.

Commenting on the contract, Sally Campbell, Managing Director of Cheshire HR Service, said: "Maximising the benefits offered by national systems including NHS.jobs, NHS.net and ESR, the solution has been carefully designed to provide end to end management and visibility of the NHS recruitment process. The system enables high levels of efficiency and effectiveness whilst also giving us the agility required for process or organisational change in the future."

"HR Vision supports transactional efficiencies, allowing HR Teams to spend more time on value added activities, supporting managers in meeting workforce challenges. HR Vision forms an integral component of our HR Technology Strategy which underpins the Cheshire HR Service Delivery model," Ms Campbell said.

"One of the fundamental benefits the solution has is to provide the ability for Line Managers and HR to track any case online 24/7. The system automates all of this, greatly reducing the need for a Recruiting Manager to ever have to chase the case again with the ability to track the case online as it progresses through the system," commented Steve Wightman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, 6PM Holdings PLC.

Technology Morning by 6PM

Date: 11th April 2013

6PM will be organising a Technology Morning at the Westin Dragonara Resort in St Julians on Friday the 26th of April. During the event participants will get to know more about how their business can operate more efficiently, increase profits and obtain peace of mind through several solutions that are offered by 6PM Infrastructure. Speakers from Malta and abroad will be talking about several areas of specialisation.

PLM:  Failure is inevitable, but is there a right way to go wrong, is an open mindset and willingness to learn from mistakes the way forward?

IB:
The first thing you need to learn about mistakes is very simple. When you take a decision you will definitely take it in the best interest of yourself and your business. You always have to have that in the back of your mind, so you can go back and say: that was the way I thought about it at the time. Therefore, never regret any of your decisions in life. The first thing I tell people is that if you do not want to fail, do not procrastinate.  If you need to take a decision, you have to take it no matter how hard it is. At times you have to take decisions to reduce headcount, to reduce people, to actually let a costumer go or to basically throw away products you have in stock. Whatever it is, kill it. Take your decision.

The most important part of this is to carry out an ‘after action review' every day to take ownership of your self development. Ask yourself: Today what did I achieve? Today what did I learn? Today what could I have done better? Tomorrow what am I going to do different?  In addition, you need to be able to have a positive attitude in order to achieve the 100%. If you convert the word attitude and you convert each letter to a value, with A equals to 1% and Z equals 26%, Attitude translates into a hundred percent. So attitude has to give you a hundred percent. To give you a hundred percent in the instance of failure you have to embrace failure as an opportunity which you are going to learn from. The most important thing is that life, within your business and your personal life, will throw you into corners. It is not about how fast you can get up and out of that corner, but in what manner. You can get out of that corner like a bull in a china shop, which means you are going to go down and take everything down with you. Or you can come out of that corner with your head held high. But that requires thought, it requires process, honesty and a positive attitude.

PLM:  How do you inspire others with your achievements and success?

IB
: The first that comes to mind is umiltà – humbleness. Do not show off, you have to be humble. At the end of the day you have to remember your roots. Being humble is important because humility inspires people. When we are talking about inspiring people, you must always offer an opinion not advice. I don't like to offer advice. I have been through a lot in my life and the reality is that if you offer people and especially young people advice, you are almost telling them what to do. If you offer an opinion you are giving them the opportunity to have a bit more of an open mind. I think the first thing you need to do to inspire people is to admit your own weaknesses, admit your own faults. Show people that you are not here out of coincidence but on the other hand do not brag about it either. Make people understand that there was a journey, a composed journey. Do talk about the pain because people are far more inspired by the pain then what was easy.

I am going to say this because I really feel it. The secret of success is definitely a certain amount of spirituality. I am not going to go into the subject of religion or God. I am talking about the subject of spirituality. What you need to do is remember that you are a human being and I think through a level of communications with others, you will definitely inspire them.

Last but not least, having the ability to influence and teach others with real life pragmatic examples, not theoretical stuff. You cannot talk to people about what you have learned in a text book, you have to talk about people and real life examples. At the end of the day they need to be able to relate and touch - they need to see something tangible. Unless they see that I do believe they are not going to be inspired. Inspiring others is only going to happen if people are able to see the honesty in what you are trying to say.

I tell people to try their best, do their best and to set up their own businesses and then say how great it is and so on. This does not have to be applied in business only but also in everyday life. It is about enabling people to understand that the only way they are going to be successful is whether they do what they really want to do in life. I want to be at 6PM, I love being at 6PM and I want to be here every day. I have been offered jobs where I could earn much more than I make here. Yes I am a founder and a shareholder here, but putting that aside I would never leave this place, if they did not ask me to. Why? I enjoy it. That is the reality of life in my opinion.

There are twenty four hours in a day, eight hours we are sleeping, eight to ten hours we are at work. And the truth is that if you are not happy with what you are doing at work and you are not happy with what you are doing in life, it is time to move on. I am convinced that many people don't appreciate what I do but it does not bother me. I do not expect it. At the end of the day, what really matters is that I am enjoying it.

If you want to be successful in business, do not do it for the money. Money is a byproduct of passion.

PLM:Support and tolerance lead to growth and success. Do you agree?

IB:
I fully agree. At 6PM there were some difficult moments due to what happened with the global economy in 2010 and 2011. It took a lot of support, tolerance and  a lot of perseverance. It took a lot of heart to keep it all flowing and move forward. Growth is not the bottom line. I don't believe in growth only as a bottom line. For example, in this environment I see a lot of growth happening because of the maturity in the workforce. Effectively the people I employed two years ago were twenty four years old, now they are twenty six – twenty seven; you start seeing a certain amount of growth coming into the organisation.

The truth is the only way we can benefit from growth and maturity of our work force is through support, tolerance, education. Enabling them to see and look at things in a different light. I think another big thing about growth is also to understand that you are recruiting people and that you are effectively recruiting what I would call hard skills and soft skills.

Hard skills are the people coming out of university with all the necessary skills. But you have to look at their background and their walk of life. Why? Because there are certain things you can never teach in life. The success factors are not the academic education but the ability to face customers, having the ability to talk, to present and sell yourself. It is having the ability to influence others. You would be very surprised at how many people have those skills, especially Maltese people.

Support and tolerance translates to growth, yes. But I must repeat that growth is not just about the bottom line. If you are simply helping somebody to grow to extract more profit out of them, that is not the way forward. I want to help my workforce to grow first of all for their own benefit. I am very proud of one fact at 6PM; it is that out of this business at least three other companies were generated. People that used to work here and sit in this office got to a level and felt confident enough to simply walk out of this office and set up on their own.

You know what? We work with them as well. And I think that is fantastic. For me that is a certificate that 6PM is a place where you can build a real career from. Now, I am not suggesting that everybody should leave and attempt their luck in business. What I am suggesting is that within 6PM there is a lot of support and tolerance, which is translated into growth.

IRM solution developed by 6PM helping NHS save costs on managing patient health records

An integrated records management system (IRM) that has been developed by 6PM, including paper records tracking and electronic document management will enable the UK National Health Service to save up to 80% on the costs related to the management of patient health records.

During a stockbrokers' meeting, CEO of 6PM Ivan Bartolo described IRM as "a solution for today's problems" adding that 6PM were integrating market leading technologies together to deliver business solutions.

IRM is an integration of the best of paper management solutions and the EDM solution that are presently on the market. The paper management platform has been branded as 6PM's Intelligent File and Inventory Tracking (iFIT) solution. The solution was implemented at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust last year and more recently, St Georges NHS Trust has signed a contract to rollout the solution this year.

St George's, that employs over 5,000 people, is the largest teaching hospital in the UK. Tracking and organisation of the medical records at the hospital cost an estimated GBP 5 million. In total there are 175 people employed in the department where 20 alone are in charge of looking for lost records. Another 45 employees pick up the files and file them in numerical order.

Thanks to IRM, a trolley full of files which used to take 3 hours to file on shelves, will now be filed in 5 minutes. Files are then tracked through a Motorola RFID system as they are transported around the hospital by strategically placed RFID sensors.

Deputy CEO Steve Wightman said that the GPB2 million contract is the result of 18 months of business development.  He added that 6PM is now well on track with its product solutions business and aims to achieve its 2013 targets for the UK by June or September at the latest

Asked if the IRM has competition in the market, Steve Wightman said that although presently there are six competitors in the area of EDM, including EMC, the 6PM solution is unique in the way it tackles the paper management problem by using the iFIT platform and it is also being underpinned by the 6PM data warehouse solution. He said that this makes it very hard for people to copy.

6PM is in the meantime receiving requests to use the iFIT product in other areas where it can be used to track patients, assets, pharmaceutical supplies, the workforce and integrated communications.

During the meeting Ron Burdis, a Senior Healthcare Business Consultant, gave a more detailed explanation of the IRM solution for Medical Records saying that the solution could lead to savings of up to 80% of the costs. Mr Burdis also gave some figures demonstrating how many NHS Trusts were looking to adopt such an approach with 6PM.

The continuous development of Climate-HIV is a joint venture between North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust and 6PM plc.

Back in December, the Deputy CEO of 6PM Holdings plc Steve Wightman had announced, in an interview with The Times, that 6PM was close to naming a new client for its Climate-HIV solution.

CEO of 6PM Holdings PLC Ivan Bartolo said: "While in December 2012 we had predicted one sale of this unique product, we can confirm that we have been entrusted with three projects giving us a great head start."

6PM Holdings plc has also won a competitive bid in the UK and is now in the process to be awarded a major Integrated Records Management (IRM) project with one of the UK's largest hospitals within the NHS. 6PM helps to make data processing easier at Kingston Hospital

Data processing at Kingston Hospital Trust has been made easier thanks to the implementation of a 6PM CareSolutions project. This means that the members of staff at Kingston are now able to load data faster and without them needing to have any programming skills. Besides, at any time, the Trust can also add new data feeds and create its own exports using the data of its choice.

The 6PM Care Solutions project is bridging the gap that is going to be created once BT withdraws its IM200 feeds to be replaced by the Power Insight Enterprise Data Warehouse (PIEDW) delivered by Cerner. The 6PM project aims to continue the ‘business as usual' operations of the information team at Kingston Hospital Trust by providing the additional information needed by the Trust for reporting and submitting purposes.

The project was initiated in April 2012. The first two months involved the shaping of the project. Increment 2 of the project started in July. Recently it went through the cycle test by the client to confirm that the team has delivered what was requested from it.

In the meantime 6PM was given the go-ahead to start increment 3 of the project that will see the PIEDW solution integrating with Care Solutions v4. It will also introduce a couple of new features related to data quality management.

Asked about the benefits of the project, Elton Barry, who is the Project Manager, said that since the data is being made available earlier at Kingston Hospital Trust it is reducing the load of the day to day activities allowing more time for analysing issues and the pattern of data. Although the system is purely administrative its benefits do trickle down to the patients as the overall care will improve through a better management of the care pathway. Elton Barry said that the CareSolutions system also helps to monitor the waiting times and improve the performance in the emergency areas of the hospital and in the whole hospital in general.

Kingston Hospital NHS Trust is a district general hospital based approximately 12 miles from central London. The hospital supports around 320,000 people in the surrounding area including the boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, parts of Wandsworth and Elmbridge. The hospital has approximately 520 beds and directly employs around 2,750 staff with another 300 staff employed by contractors but working on behalf of the Trust.

Kingston Hospital NHS Trust provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services and has a reputation for innovative developments in healthcare, particularly in ‘patient-focused' care, day surgery and maternity services.

6PM Signs Major Contract for Rollout of EDMS for Medical Records

6PM is pleased to announce a major contract award to deliver their document management system for medical records. The client is a major NHS Trust and the solution will require significant integration to the Hospitals core clinical systems, making 6PM a strategic supplier.

As part of the solution, 6PM will be rolling out the CareSolutionsTM Document Management System for Medical Records which is based on the EMC xCP platform. It will be integrated with a number of the Trust's clinical systems including a clinical portal.

The system allows the scanning of all the medical records held by the Trust, which are then put online and are integrated into a record management solution.

The value of the contract for the first phase for 6PM services is in excess of £400,000 and will be delivered by April 2013 in preparation for phase two.

"This is a significant contract utilising consultants from all our geographical locations across Europe and is further evidence of the UK Health market recognising the expertise that 6PM now have in this area." commented Steve Wightman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, 6PM Holdings PLC.

Climate-HIV goes live at the North Middlesex University Hospital

CareSolutionsTM Climate-HIV has gone live at the North Middlesex University Hospital. The new IT system that will improve the care and experience of HIV patients was developed by the North Middlesex University Hospital and IT provider 6PM.

CareSolutionsTM Climate-HIV is based on many years of clinical experience. Doctors and nurses can collect and see all the information they need to treat the patient, in a format that is user friendly and follows their work pattern.

Within one system, they can see test results and the patient's history, prescribe medication, document events and write letters to GP's. Previously, they would have used a combination of paper records and various older IT products.

CareSolutionsTM Climate-HIV is a joint venture between 6pm PLC and North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. It illustrates how the North Middlesex is using innovative ways to improve patient experience, quality and outcomes.

Climate-HIV was invented by Dr Achim Schwenk, who has been an HIV and infectious diseases consultant at North Middlesex since 2003 and an expert physician for over 20 years. The new system is based on an in-house product he introduced in 2005, but it has been completely redesigned with the 6PM team using the latest IT technology.

Achim said: "Patients with HIV often require a range of tests and can suffer from a wide variety of complications. If that is all stored in different IT systems and paper records, you need a lot of time to review all the details. I have more time talking to my patient, because I have all the information on the screen with Climate-HIV. It is safer because we won't miss important details, and the patient can see the benefits of their treatment on the screen with some helpful graphs. Climate-HIV fits to the doctor's actions like a glove fits to a surgeon's hands."

Steve Wightman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, 6pm Holdings PLC commented: "It has been a great pleasure to work together with the doctors, nurses and receptionists at North Middlesex Hospital for our development team. Their dedication and commitment has helped us to design this new solution on time and on budget."

Funding for the project came from the NHS London Specialised Commissioning Group, and from five large pharmaceutical companies in the HIV arena, who donated funds without influencing the development. This means CareSolutionsTM Climate-HIV can now be offered to other NHS Trusts for very low rates. Over 20 Trusts have already expressed an interest in a licence.

6PM Sponsors Melita FC

It was "common sense" for local ICT company 6PM to enter a sponsorship agreement with newly promoted premier division club Melita FC for season 2012-13.

Speaking at the signing of the sponsorship agreement held recently at the club, Mr Ivan Bartolo, Chief Executive Officer, said that their newly launched applied knowledge base QuickFocus.com, which will be displayed on the shirts of the players, falls very much in line with the philosophy of the club to educate and develop children. "In the same way QuickFocus.com aims to build a bridge between Academia and Industry by offering users an opportunity to access the industry experts and tap into their experience, so does the club offer expertise to the hundreds of children who attend the club's nursery and who have been developed into great players through the expert guidance of the technical team," said Mr Bartolo.

"Like these players, QuickFocus will help students go from being really good to being great, motivating them to move away from their comfort zone, and to embrace change and self-development," Mr Bartolo added.

Present at the signing, was Club President Paul Zammit, Club Secretary Matthew Naudi, Melita FC committee members and players and Ms Daphne Tabone, Group Marketing Executive, 6PM.

On behalf of the Club, Mr Zammit thanked 6PM for their financial support "without which the club cannot continue to
improve the standard of our technical training and sports facilities. We also would like to encourage our players, coaches and the public to support 6PM and their products and services."

The event kicked off at Ta' Qali and the group was lucky as they experienced fine weather conditions.

6PM Group registers profit in the first six months of 2012

6PM Group has reported a profit before tax of GBP 180,046 (30 June 2011: loss of GBP 343,292). This amount is approximately equivalent to EUR 218,714 based on the average rate for the 6 months under review.

As of September 2011, the company invested in a new Macedonian subsidiary, in order to reduce its cost base. This resulted to be a positive step forward and in fact, as from that month, the group started to be profitable. Such a result was achieved in the following months and till the reporting month, the group remained profitable for 10 consecutive months. During the last 6 months, the company invested heavily in resources in order to be able to enter into the business to consumer market, through the development of low margin, high volume products. The Quick products suite was launched at the end of June, and although development will continue for the coming 2 years, it is envisioned that the first sales results will be achieved as from the early month of the second half year. Furthermore, 6PM Group, through one of the associates (emCare360 Ltd), is also launching a new client oriented product in the field of telehealth and telecare. All the development on these products have originated from the group.

The above success stories are in addition to the achievements in the UK National Health Service (NHS), were the existing health products are being sold and enhanced in order to suit the clients' requirements. Furthermore, the group is investing in two new health solutions, developed in conjunction with the specialists in the medical field, in order to offer clinical solutions in the treatment of stroke and HIV patients. These clinical solutions will be launched in the UK market by the end of this year. The board is confident that the group will continue to achieve the expected positive results in the coming months and have therefore considered it appropriate to prepare this interim financial report on a going concern basis.

Considering that the global financial climate is seriously unpredictable and the movement in currencies cannot be underestimated, the directors are recommending that no interim dividend is to be paid, but if the positive results remain for the remaining part of this year, the board aims to deliver a final dividend which will be announced and subject to approval of the Annual General Meeting. The board is driving forward in order to achieve all the set targets within the internal business plan, which compels to give a dividend in virtue of the results obtained.

The Prime Minister, the Hon. Lawrence Gonzi visits 6PM Group as they unveil their new branding initiative

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi visited 6PM Offices this morning where he met up with senior management to inaugurate the launch of the Group's new branding – ‘Set the Pace'. The Prime Minister accompanied by 6PM's CEO Ivan Bartolo then toured the offices and was introduced to all members of staff.

To showcase the energy and enthusiasm within the company, Ivan Bartolo CEO at 6PM proudly introduced a new logo and branding initiative. The company's new tagline, ‘Set the Pace,' reflects the essence of the rebranding initiative and the company's vision. The new 6PM identity reflects the 6PM brand ethos; a brand that reflects innovation, strength, winning spirit and integrity.

During his visit, the Prime Minister was also given a demonstration of two of 6PMs CareSolutions; StrokePad and CareSolutions™ Climate-HIV.CareSolutions is 6PM's suite of award winning Health solutions developed together with the UK National Health Service (NHS).

StrokePad is one of the latest additions to 6PM's CareSolutions suite of health products. This product is designed specifically for stroke patients; producing a highly comprehensive, real time digital clinical report encompassing the entire management pathway from admission to discharge.

StrokePad is a tablet-based product which is very intuitive and easy to use. It was developed to enable the care process of a stroke patient to be recorded quickly and accurately from start to finish.  It follows the ‘real-life' clinical processes undertaken by highly experienced clinical staff whilst recording each step of the patient journey. The Solution automates reporting, allowing clinicians to focus on patient care and to decide which is the best course of treatment.

CareSolutions™ Climate-HIV is a specialised electronic care record (ECR) system for HIV medicine and is shaped after the clinician's work stream. The system makes it easier and safer to prescribe document patient encounters; write clinic letters, and code diagnoses and simplifies the process for extracting data for audit, service planning, commissioning and research. The first versions of Climate-HIV were designed by a physician with 25 years experience in HIV medicine, Dr Achim Schwenk at North Middlesex University Hospital in London, where Climate-HIV has been in use since 2005.The continued development of Climate-HIV is a joint venture between North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust and 6PM PLC. This project is overseen by a steering group with HIV consultants, pharmacists, NHS commissioners, epidemiologists (HPA), researchers (UK-CHIC), British HIV Association and patient representatives.

Speaking to members of staff following the visit, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi congratulated the 6PM Group for its progress and growth, which today includes a workforce that has reached 150 employees. Mr Ivan Bartolo also spoke to the media and said "The 6PM Group has grown into a leading ICT provider on the Maltese Island. Our new strategy now is all about implementing and living the word "Globalisation". Applied common sense coupled with technology is what we are striving upon. I recommend to all our shareholders and potential investors to keep close eye on what we are doing and where we are going as we are busy living and not dying."

Leadership Perspective

interview with Ivan Bartolo, CEO of 6PM, by Property and Life Magazine

The minute something goes wrong there is no opportunity for emotions. Ivan Bartolo considers the most expensive item on earth is not gold, diamonds or oil. The self-made entrepreneur maintains that the most expensive thing on earth is called procrastination – time. Here he tells Property & Life Magazine that if you procrastinate you are killing yourself.

6PM concludes three Climate-HIV sales

6PM Holdings plc has successfully concluded the sale of three CareSolutions™ Climate–HIV management solutions to trusts that form part of the National Health Service in the UK.

The CareSolutions™ Climate product is a specialised Electronic Care Record (ECR) system for HIV medicine. It makes it easier and safer to prescribe and document patient encounters through the ability to write clinic letters, code diagnoses, extract data for audit purposes, service planning, commissioning and research.

6PM is pleased to announce a major contract award to deliver their document management system for medical records. The client is a major NHS Trust and the solution will require significant integration to the Hospitals core clinical systems, making 6PM a strategic supplier.

Present at the signing was Club President Paul Zammit, Club Secretary Matthew Naudi, Melita FC committee members and players and Ms Daphne Tabone, Group Marketing Executive, 6PM.

6PM and Palo Alto Networks hold Modern Malware Seminar

6PM in collaboration with Palo Alto Networks has recently held a half day seminar on Next-generation Firewalls. The seminar was delivered by Palo Alto Network's Senior Systems Engineer, Jose Muniz. Throughout the session, Mr. Muniz demonstrated how to detect known and unknown threats using Next-Generation Firewalls as applications slip undetected through URL filtering products.

The enterprise is increasingly under attack from a rapidly evolving and sophisticated breed of information security threats that incorporate applications, exploits and malware. In particular it is becoming almost impossible to understand and defend against network intrusions without a firm understanding of modern malware and the key role it plays in the lifecycle of an attack. Modern malware has evolved to become persistent, networked and highly adaptable applications that provide attackers with a beachhead inside the enterprise network from which they can launch and coordinate even deeper intrusions.

Commenting on the event, Mr Brian Zarb Adami, Chief Technical Officer at 6PM plc said "Our excellent relationship with Palo Alto Networks enables us to offer first class enterprise offerings. Malware has evolved to become an extensible networked application that provides attackers with unprecedented access and control inside of the targeted network. As the power of modern malware increases, it is critical that enterprises be able to detect these threats immediately, even before the threat has a defined signature. Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls provide organizations with a multi-faceted approach based on the direct analysis of both executable files and network traffic to protect their networks even before signatures are available."

Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls enable unprecedented visibility and control of applications, users, and content using three unique identification technologies: App-ID™, User-ID, and Content-ID. These identification technologies, found in every Palo Alto Networks firewall, enable enterprises to safely and securely enable application usage, while significantly reducing total cost of ownership through device consolidation.

About Palo Alto Networks

Palo Alto Networks™ is the network security company.  Its innovative platform allows enterprises, service providers, and government entities to secure their networks and safely enable the increasingly complex and rapidly growing number of applications running on their networks. The core of Palo Alto Networks' platform is its Next-Generation Firewall, which delivers application, user, and content visibility and control integrated within the firewall through its proprietary hardware and software architecture. Palo Alto Networks' products and services can address a broad range of network security requirements, from the data center to the network perimeter, as well as the distributed enterprise, which includes branch offices and a growing number of mobile devices. Palo Alto Networks' products are used by more than 9.000 customers in over 100 countries. For more information, visit www.paloaltonetworks.com.

6PM celebrates its 5th Anniversary of Listing on the Malta Stock Exchange

Earlier today, 6PM launched QuickContribute - a project that continues to build the Bridge between Industry and Academia. At the foundation of this bridge lies an applied knowledge base were real life experiences are published online. This project is not just about 6PM but about Industry Experts who have agreed to come together to document their experience and making it available to our young generation – our future. This was announced during 6PM plc's 5th anniversary lunch at Paranga in St. George's Bay.

6PM was founded in 1996 by Maltese entrepreneur and Agile specialist, Ivan Bartolo. Ten years later Management Consultancy (UK) Ltd, a company incorporated in the United Kingdom was created. This was established by Alan West Robinson and Steve Wightman in 2006. In 2007, a year later, 6PM Holdings plc was formed to bring together the two pre-existing companies – 6PM Ltd and 6PM Management Consultancy (UK) Ltd. Today 6PM plc also owns Compunet Operations Ltd, Compunet Agencies Ltd and 6PM Nearshore DOOEL. 6PM also has shareholding interest in Softweb Ltd, emCare360 Ltd, Makeezi Ltd and DSG Ltd.

6PM plc Chairman, Nazzareno Vassallo welcomed the distinguished guests and invited the Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Bartolo to give a brief  overview of 6PM's experience over the last five years. Mr. Bartolo explained how "Listing on the Malta Stock Exchange is not a walk in the park as this brings with it several responsibilities and challenges. On the other hand, it brought with it accountability that is translating into a fighting spirit that has made the last five years ever so interesting. Over the years, 6PM had to grow up and face adulthood. Upon listing on the Malta Stock Exchange, 6PM had to mature in to the organisation it is today."

Mr. Bartolo explained that 6PM has also made positive use of the framework and opportunities offered through the Malta Stock Exchange. This was witnessed in 2011 when the company successfully took to market a rights issue to raise £3.1 m to enable it grow and consolidate its position. "During the last 5 years, the company has gone through significant transformation with the major change being the conversion from being a service based company to becoming a product based company including a portfolio of health world class products backed with knowledge and true business experience. QuickContribute is one of our latest products that include e-learning material for ICT and project-management novices and professionals" he said.

Minister of Finance, the Economy and Investment Tonio Fenech described 6PM as a flag-bearer of the Maltese ICT industry, a company that reflects the transformation that our economy has managed to make over the past 20 years. "6PM embodies many of the elements that have made the Maltese economy successful – an innovative and flexible approach to business, investment in the quality of human resources, an effort to continuously improve competitiveness and to anticipate market requirements rather than merely reacting to changes taking place elsewhere."

The Minister also commented on the fact that 6PM is also an important contributor to job creation – "I am pleased to note that the company today employs practically 100 technology professionals a 40% increase in the past four years alone. In this sense, it has made good use of EU funding opportunities, with over 50 trainees trained through the Training Aid Framework assistance. I am also pleased to note that 6pm benefited from one of the most important Government's schemes targeted towards local business – the Micro-Credit Scheme (Jeremie) for a value of 500,000 euro for the development of a new and innovative suite of software applications. 6PM is one of 350 businesses that benefited from 33 million euro in soft loans to invest in excess of 54 million euro."

During his speech, The Honourable Minister Dr. Austin Gatt said that "Thanks to this Government's vision in ICT and the investment from companies like 6PM, thousands of jobs are being created in this field. During 2011, 3,050 graduated in ICT. According to NSO the ICT industry grew by €22 million and this does not include growth in the gaming and interactive media sectors. This goes to show that this Government is what the country needs and that together with the private sector,  Malta will truly be the ICT hub in Europe and the Mediterranean."

To showcase the energy and enthusiasm within the company, Ivan Bartolo CEO at 6PM proudly introduced a new logo and branding initiative.

Speaking to members of staff following the visit, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi congratulated the 6PM Group for its progress and growth, which today includes a workforce that has reached 150 employees. "Utilising the CareSolutionTM Data Warehouse engine under an OEM agreement not only made this a very cost effective solution, it will enable the Trust to quickly add new data feeds  such as timesheet and financial datasets in order to meet all their information requirements in the future.  It also allows managers to drill down in reports and extract valuable information from the data" commented Steve Wightman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, 6PM Holdings PLC
